Responsibilities

The Executive Director, Orthopedic Service Line is responsible for the development and execution of GVH's growth strategy in the Orthopedic Service Line.

  • Partners with the Upper Bucks Orthopaedic partners to develop near and long-term strategies to promote the practice and ensure growth in patient volume, range of services, access and availability, and quality.
  • Manages operations at the Upper Bucks Orthopaedic practice, ensuring efficient and effective operations, suitability of the physical location(s), availability of talent, high levels of patient satisfaction, and steady growth in services and revenue.
  • Partners with GVH’s surgical leaders to ensure that operating time is available and that appropriate equipment and devices are available in both hospital and ambulatory-based settings.
  • Oversees value payment programs in musculoskeletal services that GVH enters into.
  • Oversees the GVH Total Joint Replacement Center and develops annual plans for continued growth in patient volume.
  • Coordinates with academic or other regional centers that GVH partners with. Develops talent recruitment and program development strategies with these partners.
  • Partners with the GVH finance team to develop funding proposals for major new projects. Develops and implements annual departmental budget(s). Manages the Upper Bucks Orthopaedic practice budgets.
  • Works effectively to identify and meet the needs of patients and the community by demonstrating customer-focused behavior.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree required, unless the person is a clinician with exceptional business-line experience.
  • Advanced degree in a related field (e.g., business, public administration, healthcare administration, and/or planning) preferred.
  • Experience in leading or developing musculoskeletal service lines or in managing a significant orthopedic or related (e.g., physiotherapy, rehabilitation) practice required.
  • Experience developing new healthcare business opportunities and partnerships a plus.
  • Strong healthcare financial management and business management skills.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining positive, effective and productive relationships with administrative and clinical leadership.
  • Knowledge of the regional and national orthopedic healthcare environment a plus.
