Under the direction of the Senior Director of Marketing, the Marketing Communications Specialist serves as account manager for selected Grand View Health products and service lines and creates, manages and executes content and branded messaging for social media, advertising, public relations and internal communications for the network. Special emphasis on copywriting and content generation for print and electronic media.



  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field required.
  • Over 3 years to 5 years in a related field required; healthcare experience a plus.


Essential Functions:

  • Develops content for social media, including writing, designing, scheduling, posting, monitoring, responding and tracking. Ability to generate graphics and to create and edit video.
  • Meets with representatives of assigned service lines to coordinate and implement tactics according to deadlines and budget. Includes writing of plans, creative briefs, project expense tracking, event coordination, media relations, advertising copy, website and social media coordination, and video production.
  • Non-service line responsibilities include miscellaneous corporate writing such as newsletters, memos, correspondence, advertising copy, direct mail, blogs, press releases, ghostwriting, speech and talking points, and annual reports. Takes photographs for media release and generates video. Coordinates media interviews with hospital executives and clinicians.
  • Serves as media spokesperson. Includes involvement in crisis communication as outlined in Hospital policy.
  • Manages relationships with internal and external audiences, including vendors, in accordance with departmental and Hospital policies.
  • Knowledge of basic photography, WordPress templates, social media, internet, intranet, mobile applications, website analysis and search enginee functioning. Basic photography, video production, WordPress templates, social media, internet, intranet, mobile applications, website analytics, digital photography and search engine functionality knowledge required.
