Responsibilities

Grand View Surgical Associates consists of 10 board-certified American College Surgeons and 4 Physician Assistants. Primary responsibilities include:
  • First assisting in the operating room (day and on-call) and performing all duties pertaining to a Physician Assistant’s role in general and vascular surgery.
  • Call coverage is required +/-1 night per week, weekend call rotation and holiday coverage for general, vascular and obstetrical (C-sections) surgery.
  • Perioperative patient management, including preoperative work-up, postoperative note, postoperative orders, issuance of prescriptions, and identification of postoperative complications or concerns.
  • Inpatient responsibilities include independent patient rounding, consultations and admissions with examination and clinical decision making; issuance of prescriptions; writing progress notes and H&Ps; performing e-discharges; and dictating final summaries.
  • Acting as liaison between surgeons, physicians, specialists, ancillary staff and office. Communication via cell phone and/or TigerText.
  • Evaluating patients to identify surgical candidacy and need for tertiary transfer.
  • Ability to perform bedside procedures independently as able or trained.
  • Precepting Physician Assistant students.
  • Participating in practitioner committees and department meetings.
 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited Physician Assistant program required.
  • Valid/unrestricted Pennsylvania Medical/Osteopathic License.
  • NCCPA certification required.
  • Experience is preferred, but not required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Physician Assistant Certification, licensed upon hire, required.
  • DEA - licensed, not required upon hire.
  • BLS - licensed.
  • ACLS - licensed.
