Responsibilities

  • The Physician Liaison is responsible for the relationship between Grand View Health and physicians affiliated with the organization. Develop relationships and markets affiliated practices in the surrounding area in regards to the Grand View Health outpatient physician service line.
  • Physician Liaison is primarily responsible for developing relationships with physicians and their staff in order to facilitate beneficial referring practices for both healthcare partners and patients. Develop ways to consolidate and increase referrals, implement strategies to reduce red tape in receiving referrals, and create reports based on work.
  • Be the point of contact between the community physicians and the hospital. Be an active participant in the Integrated Delivery Network.
  • Manage referral pathways as essential to building a strong integrated system.
  • The position of a Physician Liaison is very important in the changing landscape of medicine. Liaisons are the boots on the ground getting out to all of the providers’ offices to ensure the lines of communication remain open and fluid. The challenge of this role is maintaining synergy and unity among the various departments and service lines. Getting your internal customers, i.e., nurses, physicians, case managers, service line directors, and support staff, to understand how they all play a critical role in the success of the hospital and to physician satisfaction and patient care.
  • Build positive trusting relationships with physicians and their office staff and other healthcare leaders within the GVH defined territory to achieve growth. Track success by reviewing referral data and seeing overall network growth.
 

Qualifications

Education:
  • College degree strongly preferred. Clinical expertise will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Current Pennsylvania driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required.
  • 3 years of experience as Physician Liaison or in customer relations preferred.

Experience & Skills:
  • Solid computer knowledge in order to prepare reports, brochures and analyze data is required.
  • Position requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently utilizing sound judgment.
  • Strong knowledge of either hospital service lines or physician practices is desired.
  • Healthcare marketing and/or professional sales experience is a plus.

Responsibilities will include site presentations to present and potential service users for the purpose of educating about services, responding to customer service issues and needs, providing feedback to hospital staff about satisfaction problems, and assisting in the development of long- and short-range organizational goals.
