Responsibilities

The RN First Assistant (RNFA) to the surgeon, during a surgical procedure, carries out functions that will assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal results for the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. The intraoperative practice of the RN First Assistant is interdependent with the operating surgeon and functions in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and AORN standards.
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's degree in Nursing and over 1 year to 3 years of nursing experience required.
  • BSN preferred.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills required.
  • Service-oriented required.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities required.
  • Possesses strong technical aptitude required.
  • Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems required.


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse in PA, licensed upon hire, required.
  • RN First Assist Certification upon hire required.
  • Perioperative Certification upon hire required.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) upon hire required.
