Application Analyst
Full Time, 8:30am-5pm, Monday-Friday

Grand View Health is a member of the Penn Cancer Network, an affiliate of Penn Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery, and an affiliate of the Penn Trauma Network, partnered with Penn Medicine to provide advanced neurological services, including tele-stroke and tele-neurology care.


The Application Analyst is responsible for software planning, configuration, designing, testing, implementing, supporting and maintaining all financial/administrative applications within MEDITECH Expanse 2.1, including medical records, case mix, billing/accounts receivable, health information management, authorization and referral management, and patient accounting for both acute and ambulatory systems, as well as Clintegrity coding. The Application Analyst will assist in the planning, design, development and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications.

Knowledge of database administration a plus.

Knowledge of scripting a plus.

Essential Functions:
  • Analyzes, develops and maintains computer applications, procedures and other systems that satisfy the needs of the user departments.
  • Actively facilitates communication with assigned departments to support system adoption and best practice.
  • Provides in-service and other forms of continuing education of software and hardware to users.
  • Build information systems consistent with IT standards and in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in definition and maintenance of all system application profiles, tables, forms, screens and base code.
  • Coordinates and installs new software applications with user departments.
  • Maintains a high level of interaction with all revenue cycle areas to continually enhance/improve revenue stream functions.
  • Shares on-call duties with other individuals within Information Services.
  • Coordinates and participates in both internal and external user meetings.
  • Analyzes problems, determines cause and initiates corrective action.
  • Develops clear and concise documentation and instruction manuals.
  • Analyzes and develops necessary design work, including testing and documentations. Reviews, evaluates and implements requests from user departments.
  • Responsible for problem identification, root cause analysis and resolution for assigned systems.
  • Identifies system patches, releases and other maintenance-required activities so that systems are current, maintained and supported.
  • Collaborates with the manager for issue resolutions and projects to improve workflow processes throughout the department utilizing a proactive approach.
  • Responsible for learning, implementing and teaching new technology/procedures to both internal and external staff.
  • Provides immediate support and education on policy, procedures, equipment and supplies.
  • Promotes an atmosphere of open communication that facilitates staff input into decision-making, resolution of conflict, and collegiality among all health team members.
  • Communicates in an effective, professional manner.
  • Coordinates, facilitates, participates in and directs departmental projects with follow-through and appropriate follow-up.
  • Adheres to all hospital and Information Technology standards, policies and practices. Examples include change control, recordkeeping of application inventories and release levels, provision of accurate status and planning reports, etc.
  • Accountable for following GVH policy and procedures regarding confidentiality and privacy of all related work activity and ensures compliance with IT standards and regulatory practice (i.e., HIPPA).

Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm


  • High school diploma and over 5 to 7 years of equivalent work experience, in lieu of degree, required.
  • Over 3 to 5 years of experience in healthcare and applications support.

  • Over 3 to 5 years of experience in healthcare and applications support.
  • Experience in financial and clinical applications support.
  • In-depth knowledge of MEDITECH (clinical and financial), NPR reporting beneficial.
  • SQL, SSRS reporting.
  • HL7, API and COLD feed interfaces.
  • File transfers, data extraction and data mining.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Cloud platforms and other software technologies.
  • Ability to analyze data using statistical software according to strict timelines.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and other regulatory practices and laws.
