Cardiac Device Nurse Specialist - Alderfer & Travis Cardiology

Responsibilities

The Cardiac Device Specialist is responsible for general oversight and care of patients with cardiac monitoring devices in the device clinic in the cardiology practice. The Cardiac Device Specialist will assist with interrogations of pacemaker, defibrillator and implantable loop recorders. The Cardiac Device Specialist is the primary contact for patients pre- and post-cardiac device insertion. This position requires advanced training in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. The Cardiac Device Specialist will work collaboratively with cardiology physicians/APPs, nursing staff, patients and outside agencies to ensure the safe and effective management of patients with cardiac devices.
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma/GED and over 5 to 7 years of cardiology/Holter technician or similar work demonstrating proficient cardiac rhythm interpretation and remote defibrillator and pacemaker monitoring required. An equivalent combination of relevant education and or training may substitute for experience.
  • One (1) year of advanced training/certification in cardiac arrhythmia and over 1 to 3 years of cardiology/Holter technician or similar work demonstrating proficient cardiac rhythm interpretation and remote defibrillator and pacemaker monitoring preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may substitute for experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 60 days of hire preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire required.
