Grand View Health is a member of the Penn Cancer Network, an affiliate of Penn Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery, and an affiliate of the Penn Trauma Network, partnered with Penn Medicine to provide advanced neurological services, including tele-stroke and tele-neurology care.


Under direct supervision of the professional staff, the Clinical and Quality Assistant performs certain non-complex duties related to patient care and functioning of the unit. The Clinical and Quality Assistant functions to support the staff assisting with clerical duties, along with delivery of patient care to varied age groups, while providing a calm, caring and clean environment.

Essential Functions Include:
  • Assisting other members of the healthcare team in delivering safe, appropriate and quality patient care.
  • Assisting with or providing basic nursing care in order to help the nurse meet the activities of daily living for the patient.
  • Assisting with patient mobility needs, including turning, positioning, transferring and ambulation of patients as directed, using appropriate and proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
  • Maintaining safe patient environment.
  • Responding to emergency situations within the scope of their training and performing under the direction of the nurse.
  • Performing vital signs, including use of automatic blood pressure machine, as directed by nursing staff.
  • Under the direction of the nurse, providing basic skin care to prevent skin breakdown and maintain or improve skin integrity.
  • Answering call bells and responding to patient requests within their scope or communicating patient needs to the nurse.
  • Transferring and moving patients via wheelchair, bed or stretcher to appropriate locations within the hospital.
  • Possessing and demonstrating working knowledge of equipment in order to ensure a safe environment.
  • Maintaining open communication with department staff and accepting direction to ensure a safe environment.
  • Understanding and respecting patients' rights to privacy and dignity in order to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ensuring that equipment and supplies considered essential are functional, safe and readily accessible in order to provide a safe environment.
  • Performing department-specific maintenance duties as appropriate to department.
  • Acting as a patient advocate to ensure safe, appropriate and quality patient care.
  • Adhering to standards of practice for infection control and universal precautions.
  • Assisting with communication between the Department Manager, House Supervisor and unit staff regarding the 24-Hour Report, admissions, transfers and bed availability to operationalize department activities.
  • Answering phone and faxing requests for patient information and physician discharge instructions to primary care providers per HIPAA guidelines.
  • Organizing, maintaining and updating departmental files and records in an accurate manner to provide for timely and efficient processing of information.
  • Copying and faxing records in a prompt manner according to established medical records policy in order to fulfill requests from appropriate sources.
  • Assuming responsibility for ordering and restocking supplies necessary for efficient operation of the department within budgetary parameters.

Four shifts in two weeks, 7pm-7:30am


  • High school diploma/GED.

  • Respects patient/hospital equipment and is cognizant of the cost of supplies and equipment.

  • Nursing Assistant, certified upon hire, preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire required.
