The Progressive Care Unit is a fast-paced, high-acuity, 42-all-private bed unit. Certified by The Joint Commission in Stroke and Heart Failure. Nationally recognized by the American Heart Association for maintaining high-quality metrics in the management of stroke, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation.

The Nurse Manager, Progressive Care Unit provides leadership, direction and administration for the Progressive Care Unit. The Nurse Manager is responsible for providing guidance in the areas of compliance, safety, quality and nursing practice. The Nurse Manager will oversee staff retention, education and competency and support the professional development of the staff. The Nurse Manager will develop and maintain a departmental budget, maintain high patient satisfaction and act as a liaison and facilitator between the Progressive Care Unit and other clinical areas of the hospital. The Nurse Manager will be looked to create and maintain a culture of nursing and service excellence for the Progressive Care Unit.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides direction to department staff, which may include supervisors and clinical and clerical support staff.
  • Acts as leader and champion to new ideas that contribute to clinical excellence.
  • Monitors and analyzes performance of staff and departments. Utilizes daily management system to establish key measurements for department. Sets standards and develops goals to continuously meet or exceed standards.
  • Coaches, mentors and motivates staff in a positive and efficient manner to meet the department goals. Holds staff accountable, attaining objectives and other key job accountabilities.
  • Displays professional commitment and supports the unit team by promoting unity and teamwork among coworkers by maintaining a positive attitude and positive working relationships.


  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Five years of Registered Nurse experience required.
  • One to three years of management experience required.
  • Experience with orthopedic, inpatient care, hospice and/or oncology patients preferred.

  • Registered Nurse in PA – licensed, upon hire, required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire required.
