Development Assistant
Full Time, 8am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday

Grand View Health is a member of the Penn Cancer Network, an affiliate of Penn Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery, and an affiliate of the Penn Trauma Network, partnered with Penn Medicine to provide advanced neurological services, including tele-stroke and tele-neurology care.

Responsibilities

The Development Assistant performs various administrative, data processing and fundraising duties as assigned under the general direction of the Director of Development. The Development Assistant will be familiar with Raisers Edge donor tracking software. Competency with Microsoft Office programs is essential. The Development Assistant is the primary clerical support person for the Grand View Auxiliary.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Essential Functions:
  • Maintains and orders general supplies or initiates requests for special order items, including requests for purchase orders and checks for special training and seminars, as requested by the Director of Development.
  • Maintains files, records and statistics to effectuate business-like filing and recordkeeping in the department.
  • Maintains Grand View Health Foundation donor list, complete with addresses, pledge and gift records, and related materials to have accurate information in the data system. Updates as necessary and keeps this information in confidence.
  • Opens, reviews and distributes all mail. Brings priority correspondence to immediate attention of Director of Development. Oversees interdepartmental and external mailings to ensure the careful and business-like handling of correspondence, gifts and pledges.
  • Schedules events, meetings and seminars and arranges all support for these occasions, such as food service, decorations, seating, A/V support, lighting, transportation, participant correspondence, program and agenda preparation, entertainment, program content, etc., to ensure the professional conduct of these occasions.
  • As assigned, makes departmental travel arrangements, in-service training and professional development arrangements to effect the timely and efficient coordination of same.
  • Monitors budget, pays bills, sends invoices and handles other accounting responsibilities to ensure the timely payment of bills and collection of debts and to prevent overspending the Foundation budget as assigned.
  • Works closely with the Grand View Auxiliary to help with their special events, their communications with the GVH community and accessing GVH facilities and services as may be required for the Auxiliary to carry out their fundraising events.
  • Develops and critiques fundraising policies and programs with the Director of Development to creatively develop procedures that will ethically and effectively raise funds.
  • Under supervision, plans printed materials, correspondence, seminars, strategies and events that will result in gifts to the Foundation.
     

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Over 3 to 5 years of related experience in word processing, recordkeeping, bookkeeping, computer data entry and professional letter form.
  • Telephone and public contact experience required.
