Food Service Aide
Full Time, Days / Evenings - 11am-7:30pm, every other weekend rotation

Grand View Health is a member of the Penn Cancer Network, an affiliate of Penn Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery, and an affiliate of the Penn Trauma Network, partnered with Penn Medicine to provide advanced neurological services, including tele-stroke and tele-neurology care.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the department managers, the Food Service Aide performs a variety of routine tasks in the kitchen. The Food Service Aide will work the tray line and other related areas. The Food Service Aide will perfom all tasks according to standard practices and procedures in order to maintain a safe, efficient and sanitary work environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Assembles patient trays according to department standards.
  • Identifies and utilizes established portion control standards on patient trays to ensure a clinically accurate and cost-effective meal service.
  • Fills all food/beverage requisitions received from patient service areas in an accurate and timely manner in order to assist in maintaining quality patient care.
  • Stocks service areas with supplies according to predetermined par levels to facilitate an uninterrupted flow of service.
  • Fills requisitions from non-patient areas in an accurate and timely manner in order to assist in maintaining efficient use of time.
  • Identifies and utilizes portion control standards in all non-patient areas of food services to provide for a cost-effective and controlled service.
  • Completes assigned sanitation duties on a daily basis according to departmental schedule and procedure to provide a clean and healthy work environment and a safe product.
  • Prepares hot and cold food items following standardized recipes in order to maintain a quality product.
  • Practices safe food-handling procedures at all times to prevent foodborne illness and provide a safe product.

Schedule: Full Time, 11:00 am to 7:30 pm, every other weekend rotation
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma/GED required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to listen to others.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to identify inferior products and unsafe equipment.
  • Ability to follow portion controls using appropriate utensils.
  • Utilizes standardized recipes.
