Responsibilities

Under general direction, the General Maintenance Mechanic performs a variety of maintenance duties throughout the hospital complex and off-site buildings. The General Maintenance mechanic tasks include minor and major equipment repairs; preventive maintenance; assisting other trades; minor electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting and carpentry installations and repairs; and other duties as assigned. The essential functions for a General Maintenance Mechanic are:

  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk-mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all safety-related competencies and requirements. Works safely by eliminating unnecessary risks by utilizing available equipment, procedures and resources.
  • Adheres with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Performs unrelated duties based upon operational needs in an emergency.
     
Schedule: Full Time, 7:00am - 3:30 pm. Flexibility needed for other shifts coverage if the need arises.
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Vocational diploma with knowledge in the fundamentals of the mechanical systems, appliance repair, electricity, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry preferred.
  • Over 3 to 5 years of work experience in institutional or industrial maintenance operations preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to listen to others required.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills required.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills required.
  • Demonstrated time management and priority-setting skills required.
