Image Processor
Part Time, Days, Benefits-Eligible - 5 4-hour shifts weekly, 1pm-5pm, including every other weekend. Hours flexible on weekends.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Image Processor is responsible for processing, analyzing and scanning the patient records from ambulatory care areas. The Image Processor must follow the process according to accepted standards for completion.

Essential Functions of the Image Processor:
  • Scans patient medical record documentation into the electronic medical record system on a daily basis, maintaining productivity targets.
  • Responsible for assembling and analyzing all charts prior to scanning the record.
  • Ensures receipt of all paper medical records by checking the log daily for occasions of service.
  • Reviews all acute medical record documentation during the scanning process to ensure completion and signature by the appropriate practitioner in accordance with the established quality management standards.
  • Performs 100% quality assurance on all records as they are scanned to ensure that record is available and readable.
  • Responsible for the secure destruction of all medical records following the completion of scanning.
  • Processes all admissions and discharges according to a predetermined procedure in order to respond to patient care chart requests and to effectively expedite HIM department requests.
  • Operates all equipment with the department, as needed, in order to be able to handle all types of inquiries made of the department.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma/GED required with a business education major preferred.
  • Over 1 to 3 years of experience using office practical skills, preferably in a health-related setting, preferred.
