The Laboratory Manager supervises and coordinates the activities of the laboratory sections assigned in areas including, but not limited to, inventory control, staffing, personnel matters, fiscal and budgetary duties, and day-to-day operations in order to facilitate the flow of patient data used in patient care of patients of all ages and to maintain productive and efficient laboratory operation. Grand View Health's Laboratory Manager would oversee Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Histology, Cytology, Micro and Phlebotomy services.
Prepares/approves staffing schedules that are adequate to safely provide uncompromising levels of service.
Oversees the section quality control programs in order to maintain a viable testing environment and ensure regulatory compliance.
Participates in the laboratory strategy development with senior administration and communicates to the laboratory staff.
Coordinates the employee evaluation process to promote staff development. Communicates with staff throughout the year regarding performance.
Ensures that policy and procedure manuals are current and reviewed annually to comply with regulatory agencies.
Assists in the development of the laboratory budget to include staffing, capital equipment and operational expenses in order to help fulfill the fiscal responsibilities of the laboratory while providing safe clinical operations.
Accurately communicates information from supervisory or other meetings to section personnel in a timely fashion so that the staff is kept abreast of current events. Communicates in a positive professional manner with all staff at all times.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or equivalent required.
3 to 5 years of hospital-based clinical laboratory management experience, including general knowledge of all GVH lab areas, required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Credentialed by an agency approved by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), i.e., ASCP, NCA, HEW, AMT, upon hire, required.
