Responsibilities

The Manager of Technical Services provides leadership and guidance for a reliable and secure IT infrastructure. Provides leadership in developing and managing specific technology areas responsible for provisioning core services for the hospital community, such as e-mail and calendaring, directory and authentication services, network storage, data center operations, back-up and restore services, disaster recovery, systems management, job scheduling and output management. Provides leadership in developing and managing exemplary support services to all memebers of the hospital, including clinicians, administrators and staff.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop technical operations working with the VP/CIO, as well as clinical and business leadership.
  • Provide leadership on the use of infrastructure technologies to support the organization's strategies and priorities.
  • Lead the efforts in the areas of hardware, infrastructure, networking, security and infrastructure.
  • Maintain awareness of existing and emerging infrastructure technologies, regulatory issues and market factors and assist in the development of the IT strategy and plan.
  • Oversee development of service management processes as well as operational standards, and assist in technology evaluation.
  • Design, develop and maintain information technology infrastructure, including the design, development and maintenance of the network infrastructure.
  • Support connectivity to computing resources and applications provided by the network, file and applications services.
  • Deploy and maintain system infrastructure, including servers and software environments.
  • Design and support an overall intranet infrastructure supporting internal and external web-based computing environments.
  • Strategize for high levels of compliance and system security.
  • Encourage predictive diagnostics and issue prevention.
  • Provide guidance, leadership and mentoring to a team of technical service professionals.
  • Responsible for developing, distributing, supporting, enforcing and integrating best practices and technology standards across the organization, including enterprise-wide disaster recovery.
  • Oversee information management security function of the organization, including the development and documentation, implementation, operation and maintenance of information security programs. Head ongoing activities to preserve the availability, integrity and confidentiality of organization information resources in compliance with applicable security policies and standards.
  • Safeguard the organization's computers, networks and data against threats, such as security breaches, computer viruses or attacks by cyber-criminals, avoiding loss of confidential information, lost revenue and fines from regulatory agencies for failing to protect data.
  • Manage telecommunications equipment and services.


Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. On-call required.
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related field strongly preferred, or equivalent related experience in information technology.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ten years of progressively responsible IT operations and related experience in a health system organization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across all IT areas to develop reliable and secure IT operations, standards and support services in the use of IT services.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, influencing decisions and outcomes and facilitating consensus.
  • Ability to analyze complex technology problems and develop recommendations and solutions that are understood in business terms.
  • Highly skilled at needs assessment, facilitation of project implementation, and organizational change or development.
  • Perform effectively in a complex and changing environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of infrastructure technologies, IT operations, service management, support services and industry-leading best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Personal leadership, vision, persistence, energy, passion and enthusiasm.
  • Knowledge of running applications in LAN/WAN, client/server or web-based environments.
  • Maintain awareness of changing technology and processes and make recommendations for integrating changes into current operations.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • CISSP certification upon hire preferred.
