Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant performs routine clinical and administrative tasks to keep the office running efficiently. The Medical Assistant must have good communication skills and the desire to make a positive impact on the lives of patients. Must have the ability to multitask, take initiative to complete job duties in a timely manner, and be responsible.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, occasional Tuesdays, 1:00pm to 8:00p, in Harleysville. Must be flexible with hours for occasional early start or late finish.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for taking accurate vital signs that include, but are not limited to, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressures and weight, and ensuring that adolescent, adult and geriatric patient history sheets are completed.
  • Responsible for performing tests, such as EKGs, PFTs, audio tests, vision tests, and drug and alcohol testing, and must set up any other tests requested by the physician or mid-level practitioner.
  • Gives injections and performs venipuncture.
  • Responsible for setting up rooms for physical and paper exams.
  • Spins blood samples and completes paperwork properly.
  • Responsible for assisting physician and mid-level practitioner during examinations and any other patient-related duties.
  • Assists with maintenance of the supply closet required. Responsible for keeping accurate, up-to-date record of drug supplies on hand.
  • Screens and redirects telephone calls and walk-in visitors.
  • Assists in the collection for clinical data for performance improvement purposes.
  • Organizes, maintains and updates files/databases.
  • Coordinates scheduling of appointments.
  • Assists with check-in, registration and discharge process.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school Diploma/GED and experience as a Medical Assistant or other healthcare professional meeting core competencies of the Medical Assistant profession (vital signs, EKGs, history and medication reconciliation)..
