Full Time, Days / Evenings - Mon-Fri, varied hours between 7am & 5:30pm with 1 evening, 12:30pm-8pm

The Medical Assistant – Occupational Health is responsible for and demonstrates necessary skills for performing a variety of administrative and patient related duties to ensure the quality care to patients. The Medical Assistant does occupational health screenings for GVH employees and outside businesses. The essential functions of the Medical Assistant are:

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for taking accurate vital signs which include, but are not limited to, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressures and weight, ensuring that adolescent, adult and geriatric patient history sheets are completed.
  • Responsible for performing tests, such as PFTs, audio tests, vision tests, drug and alcohol testing, and must set up any other tests requested by the physician or mid-level practitioner.
  • Giving injections and performing venipuncture.
  • Responsible for setting up rooms for physical and paper exams.
  • Responsible for assisting physician and mid-level practitioner during examinations and any other patient related duties.
  • Assisting with maintenance of the supply closet required. Responsible for keeping accurate, up-to-date record of drug supplies on hand.
  • Screening and redirecting telephone calls and walk-in visitors.
  • Assisting in the collection of clinical data for performance improvement purposes.
  • Organizing, maintaining and updating files/databases.
  • Coordinating scheduling of appointments.
  • Assisting with check-in, registration and discharge process.
  • Responsible for other miscellaneous duties which may include, but are not limited to, stocking exam rooms, cleaning exam rooms, emptying trash cans, checking to see if the supply closets are clean and in order, putting supplies away, collecting laundry and ensuring that all work areas are in order on a daily basis.



  • High school diploma/GED required.

  • BAT certification, DOT Urine Drug Screen Collection certification, COHC certification within 1 year of hire required.
