The Medical Technologist performs a variety of diagnostic testing in the Blood Bank following established practices and standards. The Medical Lab Scientist will perform laboratory tests and procedures within scope of education, credentialing and experience for this role and will keep annual competencies in Blood Bank.
In this role, the Medical Technologist will be working in Blood Bank
only with ability to help as needed in other areas.
Receives assignments according to the established departmental procedures and plans; organizes and prioritizes work duties to carry out daily goals.
Performs testing procedures and related work according to established protocols and standards with minimal technical and/or data entry error to report results to the requesting party.
Operates equipment and works with highly technical instrumentation according to established procedures and protocols to ensure the accuracy of test results.
Performs equipment maintenance and repair according to operator's manuals to ease testing procedures and avoid downtime.
Assays proper controls, stands and other quality control material according to protocol to support the testing environment.
Performs venipunctures according to established protocols and procedures to supply the best possible specimen for analysis.
Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm or 7:00am to 3:30pm, every third weekend, occasional holidays
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or equivalent, or Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent required.
Over 3-5 years of experience required.
Credentialed by an agency approved by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), i.e., ASCP, NCA, HEW, AMT, upon hire preferred.
