Patient Care Technician - Urgent Care
Full Time, Days / Evenings - Weekdays, 12-hour shifts, 8am-8pm; weekends, 9-hour shifts, 8am-5pm

Under the administrative direction of the Urgent Care Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician functions in the Urgent Care Center to support and assist the staff in providing care to neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Essential functions may include:
  • Maintaining clinical knowledge and skills in order to provide quality patient care to neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Assisting patients entering the Urgent Care treatment area.
  • Assisting in preparation of patients for examination.
  • Obtaining and documenting vital signs and measuring and recording visual acuity.
  • Performing and documenting blood glucose monitoring.
  • Performing and documenting urine reagent testing and other waived tests applicable to patient care.
  • Applying oxygen delivery equipment.
  • Performing wound cleansing.
  • Preparing equipment and supplies for laceration repair.
  • Applying dressings, splints and orthopedic appliances; measuring for crutches.
  • Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Performing venipuncture with or without placement of angiocath.
  • Performing EKGs and applying cardiac monitoring equipment.
  • Assisting with appropriate patient restraint when directed by the professional staff.


  • High school diploma/GED required.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities.
  • Possesses strong technical aptitude.
  • Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
