Responsibilities

The RN Case Manager is responsible for coordination and implementation of the plan of care for clients in the Occupational Health and Wellness setting. The RN assists with all aspects of healthcare services staffing, competency, processes, customer service and quality improvement. The essential functions of the RN Case Manager are:

Essential Functions:
  • Serves as a liaison between client, medical provider, third-party administrators and employer to facilitate return to work and achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Serves as health and wellness care resource to clients and employers to optimize health and wellness of the population.
  • Collaborates with medical providers to coordinate and expedite plan of care. Responsible for ensuring access and utilization of healthcare services. Facilitates case management meetings.
  • Communicates with employer and provides prompt updates on employee's status.
  • Works closely with Sales and marketing professional to identify prospective and current clients' healthcare services options.
  • Assists department with operational functions and patient care within the scope of practice and consistent with clinical nursing guidelines.
  • Communicates with an industry's workers' compensation insurance carrier in order to provide necessary information for proper processing of the insurance claim.
  • Responds to requests for written information regarding the employee claiming a compensation related injury/condition within 72 hours of receipt of request.
  • Intervenes with an industry representative, as necessary, to evaluate potential alternative duty position and to arrange for medical intervention should a condition worsen while the employee is performing alternate duty activities.
  • Assists with the administration and performance of the drug and alcohol program offered to clients.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Hours may vary.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associate's degree in Nursing and over 1 to 3 years of occupational health nursing and/or case management experience required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Ability to make quality, independent decisions.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Registered Nurse in PA – licensed, upon hire, required.
