The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room is accountable for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care for neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics in the Department of Emergency Medicine. The Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status. The Registered Nurse (RN) must have a highly diverse skill set, develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes, and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment. These duties must be performed under the general direction and guidelines of Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) standing orders, standards established through the Nurse Practice Act of Pennsylvania, and Grand View Hospital policies and procedures.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment.
Evaluate, update and revise the plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
Provide care to a broad spectrum of patients ranging from short stay to trauma.
Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice.
Grand View Health has 21 beds in the ER plus 2 Trauma bays. We see patients ranging in age from newborn to geriatric of all medical concerns, including STEMIs and acute stroke and trauma patients, as well as patients experiencing mental health emergencies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Vocational diploma/nursing diploma minimum requirement.
Associate's degree and over 6 months to 1 year as an acute care Registered Nurse preferred.
Registered Nurse in PA – licensed, upon hire, required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire required.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) upon hire preferred.
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) upon hire preferred.
