The Registered Nurse, RN, Intensive Care Unit is accountable in the Critical Care Unit for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care for patients served and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The Registered Nurse practices professional nursing in the ICU by utilizing the nursing process and adheres to standards set forth in the Nurse Practice Act of Pennsylvania and Grand View Health policies and procedures.
This is a special weekend, 3 out of 4, day shift opportunity. The ICU at Grand View Health has 14 beds and cares for critically ill adult patients.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to their assigned patients.
The RN communicates with the physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition.
The RN in ICU is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
Evaluates patient's and significant other's/family’s response to education, and revises teaching plan as needed.
Recognizes potential and actual emergency situations promptly, and responds within established guidelines to meet the needs of the patient.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Vocational diploma in Nursing and 1 year of ICU RN experience required for special weekend program.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Current and valid state RN license.
Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and keep current.
Completion of critical care course preferred.
Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and keep current.
