Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse, RN, Rehabilitation is accountable for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care for patients served on the Acute Rehab Unit. The Registered Nurse, RN, Rehab practices professional nursing by utilizing the nursing process and adheres to standards set forth in the Nurse Practice Act of Pennsylvania and Grand View Health policies and procedures.
The Acute Rehab Unit includes 14 private rooms and is helping people recover from conditions such as stroke, orthopedic injury, amputation, trauma, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, other neurological disorders, bilateral joint replacement and single joint replacement with specific criteria.
The interdisciplinary teams consist of Registered Nurses, Physicians, Physical Therapists, OTs, Speech Therapists, Dietitians and Social Workers.

The Registered Nurse, RN, Rehab ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives. Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.

Reports adverse events and "near misses" to appropriate management authority.

Implements policies, procedures and standards consistently in the performance of assigned duties.

Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures and devices and communicates the same to those in charge.

Displays professional commitment and supports the unit team by promoting unity and teamwork among coworkers by maintaining a positive attitude and positive working relationships.

Fosters a healing environment for patients and families.

Assumes responsibility and authority for establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patient/family and creating an individualized plan of care. Evaluates patient's response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Integrates clinical reasoning and knowledge as the foundation for decision-making.

Balances patient's rights and organization's responsibilities in providing professional and ethical care.
Schedule: Two 12-hour shifts a week, 7:00pm–7:00am, every third weekend and every third holiday.
