The Scheduling Coordinator assists the clinical and non-clinical staff with appointments. The Scheduling Coordinator schedules incoming requests for appointments and pre-perative appointments required by the PAT Center. The Scheduling Coordinator functions are:

Essential Functions:
  • Interviews patients and addresses patients in a courteous manner.
  • Maintains working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes as they apply to cardiology scheduling.
  • Coordinates scheduling of appointments, meetings and cardiac cath procedures as necessary.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and works with insurance payers to receive the necessary pre-certification and approvals, as needed.
  • Works closely with staff from the Cardiac Cath Lab, referring physician offices and surgical scheduling staff to ensure requirements are met.
  • Responsible for assisting physicians and any other patient-related duties.
  • Must obtain pre-certification for all nuclear medicine studies, echocardiograms, MRIs and CT scans as appropriate.
  • Responsible for other miscellaneous duties which may include, but are not limited to, stocking exam rooms, cleaning exam rooms, emptying trash cans, checking to see if the supply closets are clean and in order, putting supplies away, collecting laundry and ensuring that all work areas are in order before leaving.
  • Assists with answering phones, checking out patients and other general office processes as indicated.
  • Must be polite and courteous while interviewing patients and addresses patients in a proper manner.


  • High school diploma/GED and over 3 to 5 years of office experience, including 1 year in a healthcare organization required.
