Grand View Health is a member of the Penn Cancer Network, an affiliate of Penn Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery, and an affiliate of the Penn Trauma Network, partnered with Penn Medicine to provide advanced neurological services, including tele-stroke and tele-neurology care.
The Surgical Technologist functions as a member of the surgical team. The Surgical Technologist performs specific duties in preparation for surgical procedures and intraoperative care of the patient.
The Surgical Technologist job duties include:
Understanding and participating in the process of change, evaluating new ideas or concepts relative to advances in clinical technology or healthcare delivery system to enhance self and department growth and development.
Participating in staff development, in-services and continuous education conferences to maintain competency and expand knowledge.
Applying correct principles of sterile technique and monitoring the surgical field to maintain the integrity of sterility.
Preparing surgical instruments and supplies to provide for procedural needs efficiently and expeditiously.
Maintaining competency of skill to care for patients of all ages.
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm, four 10-hour shifts per week.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
High school diploma required.
Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program sponsored by an entity holding nationally recognized institutional or programmatic accreditation preferred.
One to three years of experience in a hospital or surgery center preferred.
Surgical Technologist certification from an accredited credential program. In lieu of certification, the Surgical Technologist was employed to practice surgical technology as the individual's primary function in a healthcare facility at any time during the two years immediately preceding December 29, 2020.
Basic Life Support, AHA BLS, required.
