Grand View Health is a member of the Penn Cancer Network, an affiliate of Penn Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery, and an affiliate of the Penn Trauma Network, partnered with Penn Medicine to provide advanced neurological services, including tele-stroke and tele-neurology care.

Responsibilities

The Trauma Clinical Nurse Specialist is an advanced practice RN who works in collaboration with the Trauma Program Leadership to facilitate Trauma education identified by the Trauma PIPS Program throughout the continuum of trauma care for all injured patients that meet Pennsylvania Trauma System Foundation PTOS Registry and GVH criteria. The Trauma CNS is a Master's-prepared subject matter expert with over 7 years of experience in the ED or ICU in the care of the trauma patient at a Level II or higher Trauma Center. This role is inclusive of injury prevention education. Work requires the analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts, and in-depth and experienced-based cross-functional Trauma knowledge. Work requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to provide empathy in interpersonal situations.

Schedule: Per diem need. May need to direct educational activities to off-shifts.
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's degree Clinical Nurse Specialist and over 7 years of experience in the ED or ICU in the care of the trauma patient at Level II or higher Trauma Center required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Possesses familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) required.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills required.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills required.
  • Effective interpersonal skills required.
  • Database management skills; project management skills; analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts; and in-depth and experienced-based cross-functional Trauma knowledge required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Registered Nurse in PA – licensed, upon hire, required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) upon hire required.
  • Completion of PaTNCC or current TCRN upon hire required.
  • TCRN certification within 1 year of hire required.
  • TOPIC within 6 months of hire required.
  • 1CD-10 Coding for Trauma within 6 months of hire required.
  • AAAM AIS Course within 6 months of hire required.
  • ATCN Instructor within 1 year of hire required.
