Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety RN Coordinator

Responsibilities

The Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Registered Nurse, RN Coordinator works in collaboration with the Trauma Program leadership to facilitate and coordinate the Trauma PIPS Program throughout the continuum of trauma care for all injured patients that meet Pennsylvania Trauma System Foundation PTOS Registry and GVH criteria. The Trauma PIPS Registered Nurse participates in trauma data collection with entry into the PTOS Outcome database as indicated. In conjunction with the Trauma Program Medical Director and Trauma Program Manager, the Trauma PIPS RN collaborates to ensure compliance with PTSF Standards of Accreditation and PIPS program as defined the PTSF Standard 6. Work requires the analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts, as well as in-depth and experienced-based cross-functional Trauma knowledge.
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • BSN and over 5 to 7 years of clinical experience in the ED or ICU in the care of the trauma patient at Level II or higher Trauma Center required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing preferred.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Registered Nurse in PA - licensed, upon hire, required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) upon hire required.
  • Completion of PaTNCC or current TCRN upon hire required.
  • TOPIC required within 6 months of hire.
  • ICD-10 coding for Trauma within 6 months of hire required.
  • AAAM AIS within 6 months of hire required.
  • ATCN within 1 year of hire required.
  • TCRN within 2 years of hire required.
  • 8 hours of Trauma-specific continuing education annually, within 1 year of hire, required.
