Responsibilities

The Clinical Director of Progressive Care assumes 24/7 administrative responsibility for the quality of patient care administered throughout the Progressive Care Unit. The Clinical Director of Progressive Care has responsibility for integration of clinical performance improvement and operational effectiveness. The primary responsibility is for the quality of nursing care, thus ensuring efficient and effective coordination and delivery of patient care services.

The essential functions of the Clinical Director of Progressive Care:
  • Provide leadership in building loyalty and commitment throughout the organization.
  • Consider the impact of nursing decisions on the organization as a whole.
  • Serve as a professional role model and establish mechanisms that provide for early identification and mentoring of staff with leadership potential.
  • Manage financial resources by developing targeted departmental budgets.
  • Monitor staff productivity data and compare to industry standards.
  • Use an integrated model in collaboration with nursing quality and education.
  • Recognize, articulate and manage patient and family expectations regarding quality care outcomes.
  • Champion evidence-based practice model with staff to drive and improve patient outcomes.
  • Understand, articulate and ensure compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act, State Board of Nursing regulations, regulatory agency standards and policies of the hospital.
     

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing and over 5-7 years of progressive nursing management experience required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing preferred.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse in PA – licensed, upon hire, required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire required.
  • RN Progressive Care certification upon hire preferred.
