Development Manager

Responsibilities

The Development Manager assists in the coordination and implementation of the designated priorities of Grand View Health's development program. The Development Manager will lead the production of the annual fund solicitation materials for employee annual giving, create and manage grant deadline calendars, write grant applications, write solicitation and acknowledgment letters, and cultivate donors to generate new revenue. The Development Manager utilizes Raiser's Edge and other software tools to track and analyze giving data.

  • Managing the annual fund, grateful patient and donor acquisition programs, especially as they relate to direct mail and web-based programs.
  • Managing the full cycle of foundation, state and federal grant applications, to include identifying opportunities, composing proposals, overseeing grant outcomes and progress reporting on grant-funded work.
  • Supporting capital campaign, including tours, prospecting research for the steering committee, creating campaign materials and website updates, checking passing photos and cultivation events.
  • Arranging publicity for department activities: donations, in-kind donations, pink-out fundraisers and auxiliary events with marketing department.
  • Responsible for Community Annual Giving Campaign, including mailing solicitations and email campaigns (Giving Tuesday, Doctors' Day, etc.).
  • Responsible for Employee Annual Giving Campaign, including the Employee Giving Committee, mailings, email appeals, raffles and donor cultivation.
  • Supervising the administrative assistants with daily operations.
  • Managing a gift recognition program, including giving clubs and Manderfield and visionary societies. Looking for ways to add value for donors in these areas, especially in internet applications.
  • Managing and marketing Honor/Memorial Gift Program.
  • When needed, assisting the Grand View Auxiliary with special events management, sponsorships and developing event materials (flyers, emails, etc.).
  • Participating in corporate and foundation solicitation program for event sponsorships and philanthropic grant support.
  • Submitting grants and looking for additional opportunities to increase awareness of the health system's needs.
  • Working with support staff to ensure timely and accurate data entry, including gift entry and acknowledgements.
  • Using Raiser's Edge software to analyze data and create reports.
  • Writing routine correspondence and thank you letters.
  • Assisting with the capital campaign and major donor initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree and over three (3) years of experience in development, sales or related field.
  • Development and grant-writing experience is highly preferred.
  • Managerial experience is preferred.
