Grand View Health is a member of the Penn Cancer Network, an affiliate of Penn Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery, and an affiliate of the Penn Trauma Network, partnered with Penn Medicine to provide advanced neurological services, including tele-stroke and tele-neurology care.


Under general direction, the Electrician installs, inspects, tests, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs electrical systems, fixtures and non-patient care equipment throughout the hospital complex and other duties as assigned. The essential functions of the Electrician are:

Essential Functions:
  • Estimates quantities of materials needed for work projects based on project specifications and prepares purchase order requisitions in order to maintain established project completion dates.
  • Installs 110, 220, 277 and 480-volt services according to the standard practices and specifications on architectural blueprints or other construction plans in order to maintain established project completion dates and ensure compliance with all applicable codes.
  • Recommends locations for placement of lighting fixtures, switches, receptacles, etc., according to predetermined standards when locations are not included in the project specifications to ensure that adequate and efficient services are provided.
  • Monitors and reviews installations done by outside electrical contractors to ensure that departmental records are updated, the work is completed according to project specifications, and that all applicable codes are complied with.
  • Analyzes and isolates malfunctions and defects in electrical systems according to standard practices in order to determine appropriate corrective measures.
  • Replaces defective switches, receptacles, fuses, insulators and other components of electrical services to maintain normal operating condition.
  • Conducts the testing of the emergency power system according to established testing procedures to help ensure emergency preparedness and system reliability.
  • Conducts O.R. isolation monitor testing according to established testing procedures in order to maintain proper line voltage.
  • Conducts X-ray room leakage testing according to established testing procedures in order to monitor and maintain leakage within the predetermined standards.
  • Inspects the medical gas alarm system according to established inspection procedures in order to verify proper operation and help ensure system reliability.
  • Inspects non-patient care equipment according to established inspection procedures to verify electrical safety and minimize electrical hazards to equipment users.
  • Assists with inclement weather issue such as snow/ice removal.
  • Safely operates motor vehicles, tractors, golf carts and forklifts.
  • Assists with emergency and unscheduled repairs of buildings systems and equipment.

Schedule: 7am until 3:30 pm. Flexibility with time is required as schedule and job needs may require.


  • Vocational diploma with overall knowledge of the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of 110, 220, 277 and 480-volt electrical systems preferred.
