Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse, Infectious Disease Practice
Full Time, 8am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday

Under the direction of and in conjunction with Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse, is responsible for delivering patient care to all GVH patients.

Essential Functions:
  • Implements accepted standards of documentation on patient electronic medical records and other hospital forms to ensure that information affecting a patient, significant other or member of the healthcare team is properly recorded.
  • Administers medications safely according to established policies and procedures.
  • Administers injections.
  • Completes assessment and prepares patient for office visits with physician. Assessment includes taking vital signs and reviewing patient's medical history and current problems.
  • Acts as patient advocate to ensure that patient needs are met.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality to ensure patients' rights to privacy.
  • Implements physician's order and nursing plan of care according to established standards.
  • Performs clerical duties, such as making patient appointments, answering phones, scanning, etc.
  • Recognizes potential and actual emergency situations promptly, and responds within established guidelines to meet the needs of the patient.


  • High school diploma/GED and over 1 to 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or other healthcare professional meeting core competencies of Medical Assistant profession (vital signs, history and medication reconciliation) in a healthcare environment required.
  • Vocational diploma, Certified or Registered Medical Assistant program, and no office experience/healthcare experience preferred; or vocational diploma, Certified or Registered Medical Assistant program, and over 1 to 3 years of office experience/healthcare experience preferred; or Liscensed Practical Nurse training and over 6 months to 1 year in an acute care setting preferred.

  • Medical Assistant upon hire preferred.
  • Cardiac pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) upon hire preferred.
