Responsibilities

The Patient Access Team Lead is the primary subject matter expert, super-user, troubleshooter and problem solver for the staff in the areas to which they are assigned. The Patient Access Team Lead will serve as a preceptor to new staff members as assigned, and mentor and train colleagues as needed. In the absence of Patient Access Management, they serve as the "go-to person" for the areas to which they are assigned and coordinate the daily activities of the department. The Patient Access Team Lead is assigned to handle escalated patient interactions and to cover in all job roles within the Patient Access department during times of high volume. The Team Lead is also responsible for reporting patient volumes for registration and scheduling for each location.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:00pm-11:30pm. Occasional weekends.
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma/GED and over 5 to 7 years of medical terminology/insurance experience required.
  • Over 5 to 7 years of patient access experience required.
  • Some college preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality.
  • Service-oriented.
  • Demonstrated time management and priority-setting skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities.
  • Possesses familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems.
  • Knowledge of health insurance plans and their policies and procedures.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) upon hire preferred.
