Responsibilities

The Pharmacist is responsible for maintaining the everyday workflow of orders, clinical functions, ensuring medications are properly dispensed, and acting as a medication consultant. This employee is expected to support the clinical coordinator with specific clinical projects.

This is a part-time position, 40 hours biweekly. The shifts would be both first and second shift, plus every third weekend.

Day shift is 7am-3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm and evening shift is 2pm-10pm or 4pm-10pm. The weekend shifts vary in time from 7am to 4:30pm for day shift and 1pm to 9pm for evening.

  • Inspects and replaces medications in the BCEHS boxes to ensure all medication is in date and the correct inventory is present. Completes all records as required.
  • Inspects and replaces medications in the emergency boxes and crash cart trays, ensuring all medications are in date and the correct inventory is present. Maintains required records/information.
  • Develops and utilizes verbal communication skills by identifying themselves and their position and answering the phone within three rings, which will facilitate obtaining or providing information. Contacts physician/provider when clarification or communication regarding patients is required.
  • Supervises Pharmacy Technician/intern/student when he/she is working in the department. Assists technician/intern/student when necessary and workload allows.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of quality planning and improvement process and drug usage evaluation by participating in the data collection and preparing monthly or quarterly summaries as required.
  • Fills or checks all outpatient prescriptions so that they are dispensed and labeled correctly and in accordance with all applicable regulations.
  • Participates in "on-call" rotation in order that a Pharmacist is available 24 hours a day.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree/science segree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy required.
  • Over 6 months to 1 year of computer experience preferred.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Pharmacist, licensed upon hire, preferred.
