Grand View Health is opening our Hospital Pavilion in 2023, including 10 new operating rooms that are substantially larger and designed to accommodate developing technologies. These new rooms include five general ORs and five hybrid ORs that support appropriate imaging equipment for minimally invasive surgeries or traditional "open" surgeries, all in one OR suite.
The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room practices professional nursing by utilizing the nursing process and adheres to standards set forth in the Nurse Practice Act of Pennsylvania and Grand View Health policies and procedures.
Essential Functions of the Registered Nurse:

Demonstrates competency in performance of skills necessary to provide care to acutely ill adolescent, adult and geriatric patients by following approved standards to provide safe care.

Delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

Performs circulating functions, including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition, and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.

Performs scrub functions, including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedures.

Assists in the orientation of new employees or employees new to the unit, according to established procedures, to promote education within the Nursing Department and developing personal leadership skills.

Assertively communicates concerns, issues and information through appropriate channels.

Identifies continuing education needs and seeks appropriate educational opportunities to enhance professional development.
Schedule: Full-time, day, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm approximately, one weekend of call every seven weeks, two evenings per month to be on call and two holidays per year.
