Responsibilities

Under general direction, the Volunteer Coordinator coordinates the volunteer programs throughout the organization; including the recruitment and engagement of volunteers, placement into appropriate volunteer roles as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies. Essential functions include:

  • Conducts orientations for all volunteers to ensure an understanding of Volunteer Services policies and procedures along with hospital procedures according to accreditation standards and assists in determining appropriate training schedule.
  • Interviews, orients and conducts annual evaluation for all VolunTeens.
  • Supervises VolunTeens and coordinates assignments Saturday mornings throughout the hospital.
  • Facilitates applications and assignments for Career Shadowing in consultation with departments throughout the hospital.
  • Communicates with VolunTeens via a quarterly newsletter.
  • Organizes Lunch and Learn Program two-three times a year as part of the continuing education program for VolunTeens.
  • Coaches and mentors students in their volunteer roles.
  • Facilitates nomination and selection process for VolunTeen of the Year Award.
  • Hosts annual VolunTeen Luncheon.
  • Assists in hosting quarterly Volunteer Teas to recognize volunteers for service hours.
  • Routinely communicates with Volunteer Services staff regarding VolunTeen program.
  • Inventory and maintain a supply of Volunteer and VolunTeen uniforms as well as an adequately supply of award pins.
  • Monitor and order department office supplies.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma/GED required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to listen to others
  • Demonstrated written communication skills
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills
  • Possesses familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
